Phil Hendrie Invites Celebrities to Play Poker and Help Homeless Youth
For the past 10 years, Hendrie has been actively involved with My Friend's Place by sitting on its Board of Directors, and donating all proceeds from the sales of his annual "Best of" CD. As a result of Hendrie's generosity and on-air advocacy, revenues from CD sales have funded over 350,000 hot meals for abused, abandoned, and neglected children living on the streets of Los Angeles. Hendrie is also responsible for compelling hundreds fans to become volunteers at My Friend's Place and for raising national awareness about the suffering of homeless youth. About My Friend's Place The mission of My Friend's Place is to assist and inspire homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. Founded in 1988, My Friend's Place serves over 1,000 homeless youth and their children each year with emergency resources such as food and clothing in combination with free health, therapeutic, and educational services. My Friend's Place is the only resource center for homeless youth in Southern California offering drop-in services seven days a week and is 100% privately funded.
